Celebration at New Facility Benefits Local Charity
On Thursday, September 13th Service Master Restore of the Fraser Valley showed our support of Matthew’s House by raising $8000.00 at our Grand Opening and Tenth Anniversary Celebration.
Over 300 of our business partners attended the celebration at our new central facility on Maclure Road. The catered event featured live music as well as a car show. Owners and staff also want the business to benefit the community in tangible ways. In keeping with this value, Matthew’s House was named as the designated charity for the event.
Paul Curtis, branch manager for Granite Claims Solutions in Abbotsford, thought the event was a huge success. “It was a fun and entertaining evening. Their staff showed great hospitality,” commented Curtis. “It was also great to see the effort put in to raise money for a local charity initiative and give back to their community.”
As a home away from home, Matthew’s House is designed to support up to five children at a time, providing a much-needed break for families. Children will be cared for in a state-of-the-art residence staffed by experienced caregivers. Medical necessities like overhead track systems for transferring and full wheelchair accessibility will be complimented by a beautiful aesthetic, a multi-sensory playroom and an outdoor playground. Overnight guest suites allow family to remain close while taking a restful step back to refuel themselves.
Matthew’s House is a program of Communitas Supportive Care Society, a local social service agency with a nearly 40-year record of providing quality care to individuals living with disabilities. Matthew’s House is about caring for kids, a community encouraging one another, hospitality, compassion and joy.
